Live surgery using Evone for ventilation: demonstration for more than 150 Spanish specialists
In 2018 we introduced our unique patient ventilation concept FCV®, provided by mechanical ventilator Evone. We visited many hospitals and demonstrated its advantages for the patient and specialists in the clinic. Now, only one year later, FCV® is gaining ground. Join us for another step in our journey to redefine ventilation!
Masterclass on FCV®
Last week, the ‘IVth Curso de simulación clínica en el manejo seguro de la vía aérea’, (Clinical simulation course in safe airway management) SIMUVAD, was organized at University Hospital de La Paz in Madrid. This annual meeting is unique in its set up, containing masterclasses, workshops and real time demonstrations from the operating theatre for well over 150 Spanish anesthesiologists (in training). The Masterclass on FCV® by Prof. Dr. med. Dietmar Enk, Münster Germany, provided insights on this new ventilation concept controlling both the expiration and inspiration, resulting in a higher efficient ventilation with lower energy dissipation. Moreover, FCV® allows ventilation through small lumen, providing benefits during laryngeal surgery, which were clinically demonstrated the next day.
Advantages of using FCV® demonstrated during live streamed surgery.
The advantages of using Evone in combination with the ultrathin Tritube – ventilation tube with an OD of only 4.4 mm – during laryngeal surgery, was demonstrated in the Operating Theater of the University Hospital La Paz by Prof. Dr. med. Dietmar Enk. A live stream connection allowed interaction with the 150 attendants in the Auditorium, during the surgical removal of a vocal cord tumor. Starting with the smooth intubation and the increased surgical exposure, the participants also acknowledged the gradual increases and decreases in intratracheal pressures reflecting the smooth ventilation by FCV®. The gentle waking up of the patient underlined that FCV® was well tolerated.
Attendants trained to use Ventrain® with any small lumen
This top-level meeting was closed by workshops on the use of manual ventilator Ventrain. Prof. Dr. med. Dietmar Enk taught each attendant how to use Ventrain, for ventilation through any small lumen in either an emergency CICO setting or during elective upper airway surgery.
In short, SIMUVAD offered us a magnificent possibility to demonstrate the advantages of ventilation concept FCV®, provided by mechanical ventilator Evone and in its basic form by manual ventilator Ventrain. With the use of Tritube during laryngeal surgery, surgical exposure was improved, while the airway was secured. Evone provided an excellent, smooth ventilation. All participants were trained to use Ventrain in difficult airway situations during emergency or upper airway surgery. More information on our concept and products can be found on this website.
